Maharashtra Govt Appoints Dinesh T Waghmare As Chief Election Commissioner
The CEC position had been vacant since the retirement of the previous officer, UPS Madan. Waghmare will assume the charges immediately. In his new role, Waghmare will be responsible for overseeing the preparation of electoral rolls and conducting elections for various regional, district, panchayat, and municipal bodies throughout Maharashtra.

Mumbai: The Maharashtra state government has appointed senior IAS officer Dinesh T Waghmare as the new Chief Election Commissioner (CEC). This decision followed the state's cabinet granting Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis full authority to propose candidates for the CEC role.
The CEC position had been vacant since the retirement of the previous officer, UPS Madan. Waghmare will assume the charges immediately. In his new role, Waghmare will be responsible for overseeing the preparation of electoral rolls and conducting elections for various regional, district, panchayat, and municipal bodies throughout Maharashtra.
