Maharashtra: Dramatic Video Captures Collapse Of Portion Of Under Construction Flyover At Mumbai-Goa Four-Lane Highway Project In Chiplun

In a horrific incident on Monday, a construction pillar at the under-construction site of the Mumbai-Goa four-lane highway in Chiplun collapsed. Following this, a girder of the flyover also fell.
Fortunately, no injuries were reported in the incident. The collapsing girder of the largest flyover in the Konkan region also damaged a crane machine that was actively engaged in construction activities at the site.
The CCTV footage of the incident showed people running helter skelter following the collapse.

Girder developed cracks early morning
The pillar, which was elevated, developed cracks on the early hours of Monday. Following this, the area was sealed off, and police personnel were stationed there, an official told Press Trust of India (PTI).
At about 2:45 pm, the girder collapsed and fell approximately 30 meters, he said. As of now, the highway section is still open to traffic, and the cleanup process to clear the debris was yet to commence, the official told PTI.
