Maharashtra CM Devendra Fadnavis Pushes For Industrial Township Status For MIDC Villages
During a review meeting of the Maharashtra Industrial Development Corporation (MIDC) held on Friday, CM Fadnavis directed officials to draft a policy in this regard. The meeting was chaired by the Chief Minister and attended by Deputy Chief Ministers Eknath Shinde and Ajit Pawar, along with Industries Minister Uday Samant.

Mumbai: Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has emphasised the need to grant industrial township status to villages with a significant MIDC presence, stating that such a move would facilitate focused and structured development in these regions.
About The Decision
During a review meeting of the Maharashtra Industrial Development Corporation (MIDC) held on Friday, CM Fadnavis directed officials to draft a policy in this regard. The meeting was chaired by the Chief Minister and attended by Deputy Chief Ministers Eknath Shinde and Ajit Pawar, along with Industries Minister Uday Samant.

To accelerate the development of industrial areas, it was discussed in the meeting that granting industrial township status to villages with an MIDC presence would help drive overall growth in these regions. Along with local development, it would also ensure faster implementation of basic infrastructure and essential services such as water supply, roads, electricity, and other civic amenities.
A discussion regarding the formulation of a policy on this matter was also held during the meeting, and a decision is expected to be taken soon. At the World Economic Forum 2025, a total of 63 agreements were signed, of which 47 are related to the industrial sector. The process of land allotment for these companies is currently underway.

Notifications for land acquisition have been issued for the development of new industrial areas. Under the e-tendering system, 654 plots have been allotted through the MahaTender portal. As part of the 100-day action plan, MIDC had set a target to allot 3,500 acres of industrial land, out of which 2,346 acres have already been allocated to industries. Additionally, the land acquisition target has been achieved at 110%.
