The Indian Coast Guard’s western region held the Station Commanders’ Works Conference 2026 in Mumbai from August 19 to 21. Led by Inspector General Bhisham Sharma, the conference reviewed operational readiness and maritime challenges. Officers discussed infrastructure, modernisation, manpower utilisation and practical solutions to strengthen efficiency and support future operational requirements.

Mumbai: The Station Commanders’ Works Conference 2026 of Indian Coast Guard's (ICG) western region was conducted at its regional headquarters in Mumbai from August 19 to 21. The conference reviewed the maritime law enforcement agency’s operational readiness and aimed at extensive measures to meet critical maritime challenges.
Senior Coast Guard Officials From Five Regions Participate In Meeting
The conference, spanning three days, was presided over by the western region’s Commander, Inspector General Bhisham Sharma, and attended by the District Commanders of four states, including Maharashtra, Karnataka, Goa, and Kerala, along with the union territory of Lakshadweep. Additionally, commanding officers, officer-in-charges, superintendents, chief engineers and respective MES officers in the region also attended the conference.
The conference reviewed operational readiness and directed extensive measures to meet the challenges posed by an ever-increasing mandate for the Indian Coast Guard. The gathering also highlighted the achievements of units despite their limitations. It produced the best solutions to the region's evolving challenges during multiple brainstorming sessions over the three-day period.

During the conference, deliberations and brainstorming sessions aimed to address emerging operational challenges and develop innovative, practical, and sustainable solutions. Emphasis was also accorded to infrastructure development, modernisation of facilities and optimal utilisation of skilled manpower to sustain operational efficiency and with special emphasis on improving the quality of life of ICG personnel.
“The conference underlined the commitment of ICG’s western region towards operational excellence, technological advancement and self-reliance, in consonance with the Government of India’s vision of Atmanirbhar Bharat and Digital India,” said the spokesperson.
