Ayodhya: A Lance Naik of the Indian Army, posted at the Dogra Regiment Centre in Ayodhya, died after being electrocuted while operating a grass-cutting machine.
The deceased has been identified as 37-year-old Lance Naik Nitesh Gate, a native of Akola district in Maharashtra. He was attached to the 5 Maratha Light Infantry unit and had been assigned maintenance work at the Dogra Regiment’s MT (Motor Transport) Park.
About The Incident
According to army officials, the incident occurred around 7 am when Nitesh was using a grass-cutting machine in the MT Park premises. Preliminary findings suggest that the machine suddenly became electrically charged, leading to a fatal electric shock. By the time fellow soldiers noticed the accident and rushed to help, it was too late.
“He was a disciplined and dedicated soldier. His untimely demise has left a void in the unit. We are cooperating fully with the internal inquiry to determine the exact cause of the incident,” said a senior officer at the Dogra Regiment Centre.
The body has been sent for post-mortem, and an internal investigation has been initiated to ascertain whether there was any electrical fault or negligence involved in the equipment handling.
The Army is also coordinating with the family of the deceased and making arrangements for the transportation of the body to his hometown in Maharashtra with full military honors.
