ECI Asks Maharashtra Voters To Submit Enumeration Forms By August 17 For Electoral Roll Revision

The Election Commission of India (ECI) has urged all registered voters in Maharashtra to submit their Enumeration Forms by August 17, 2026, as part of the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of the state's electoral rolls.

Enumeration Form Mandatory For Inclusion In Draft Electoral Roll

According to the revised schedule issued by the ECI, voters whose names are already included in the existing electoral roll must fill, sign and hand over the Enumeration Form to the designated Booth Level Officer (BLO) during the house-to-house verification drive. Only those voters who submit the completed forms will have their names included in the draft electoral roll, which is scheduled to be published on August 24, 2026.

The Election Commission reiterated that under Sections 17 and 18 of the Representation of the People Act, 1950, no person can be enrolled as a voter in more than one constituency. Voters whose names appear in multiple electoral rolls have been advised to submit the Enumeration Form only for their current place of residence. Any duplicate application will be marked as "Already Enrolled", and the name will not be included in the second electoral roll.

Draft Roll To Be Available Online And At ERO Offices

The draft electoral rolls will be available at the offices of the Electoral Registration Officers (EROs) as well as on the official websites of the Election Commission of India and the Chief Electoral Officer, Maharashtra.

The Commission said that eligible voters whose names do not appear in the draft roll, as well as first-time voters, can apply for inclusion between August 24 and September 23, 2026, by submitting Form 6 along with the prescribed declaration and supporting documents. Applications will be verified by the Electoral Registration Officer before eligible names are added to the final electoral roll.

Forms 7 And 8 To Be Used For Objections And Corrections

During the one-month claims and objections period, voters can also seek corrections in their electoral details by submitting Form 8, while any elector in the constituency may object to the inclusion of an entry by filing Form 7.

The Election Commission cautioned that furnishing false information or making incorrect declarations while applying for inclusion, correction or deletion of names in the electoral roll is an offence under Section 31 of the Representation of the People Act, 1950, punishable with imprisonment of up to one year, a fine, or both.

The final electoral roll will be published on October 27, 2026.

The Commission also clarified that under Sections 22 and 23 of the Representation of the People Act, 1950, eligible citizens can continue to apply for inclusion of their names or seek corrections even after the publication of the final electoral roll by submitting Form 6. It emphasised that updating electoral rolls is a continuous process, and eligible citizens should ensure their details remain accurate and up to date.
