The massive blood donation drive organized by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on the occasion of Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis' birthday has created history by setting two world records. Recognising this achievement, the Asia Book of World Records on Wednesday honoured BJP Maharashtra State President Ravindra Chavan with a certificate of appreciation.
This remarkable feat includes organizing 1,088 blood donation camps across all 1,221 party mandals in a single day and collecting a record 78,313 units of blood — both accomplishments now officially recognized by the Asia Book of World Records.
The initiative was carried out by the BJP Maharashtra unit in collaboration with the Dr. Shyama Prasad Mukherjee Nyas. At a felicitation ceremony held at the BJP State Headquarters, the recognition was presented to Mr. Chavan by senior adjudicators Sanjay Bhola and Seema Mannikot of the Asia Book of World Records.
Several prominent leaders were present on the occasion, including Minister for OBC Welfare Atul Save, BJP State General Secretary MLA Vikrant Patil, Madhavi Naik, Rajesh Pandey, Vijay Chaudhary, State Headquarters In-charge Ravindra Anaspure, and Media Department Head Navnath Ban.
Speaking at the event, Ravindra Chavan said, “It is a matter of great pride and joy that the party has set two world records through this mega blood donation drive on the birthday of Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis. Following the party's core principle of service to society, CM Fadnavis has always worked tirelessly for the people. This initiative allowed us to express our collective respect and gratitude towards him.”
He also expressed heartfelt thanks to the thousands of blood donors who came forward with a strong sense of social responsibility and participated in this record-setting event. Chavan acknowledged that it was the collective organizational strength and commitment of party workers, office-bearers, and BJP headquarters staff that made this success possible.
He humbly stated that he accepted the certificate not in his personal capacity, but as a representative of the entire BJP family in Maharashtra.
