Bhiwandi: BNCMC Issues Notices To 83 Property Tax Defaulters, Recovers ₹49.58 Lakh

The Bhiwandi Nizampura City Municipal Corporation (BNCMC) has issued notices to 83 prominent property tax defaulters, including hotels and showrooms in the city. Out of the 83 defaulters, 28 have approached the civic office and paid ₹49,58,938 in dues.
Public Relations Officer Shrikant Pardeshi of BNCMC stated, "The 83 property tax defaulters are part of a larger list of hundreds of defaulters. So far, 28 have cleared their dues, while 55 remain unpaid. Our department will take strict action if they fail to pay on time."
A senior official from BNCMC’s tax assessment and collection department explained that legal notices will be sent if the defaulters fail to respond. This will be followed by property attachment notices, seizure notices, and eventually auction notices if the dues remain unpaid. The properties will be seized if the defaulters do not settle their outstanding amounts.

The BNCMC is also working to raise awareness about property tax payments through various media channels, encouraging property owners to pay their taxes online.
Additionally, a civic official revealed that cases of illegal water connections are being investigated. "If we find individuals guilty of obtaining water connections illegally, criminal cases will be filed against them," the official said.
