Mumbai: The BMC has launched new projects to streamline water supply in the ‘E’ ward, covering areas like Byculla and Nagpada. As part of this, work will be carried out from 10 am on May 28 to 10 am on May 29. During this 24-hour period, there will be no water supply in parts of Colaba, Fort, Mohammad Ali Road, Dongri, Byculla, and Nagpada.
As part of this initiative, the old 1200 mm diameter water pipeline at Navnagar and Dockyard Road will be decommissioned and replaced with a new 1200 mm diameter pipeline. Additionally, the old 900 mm diameter valve on Compartment 1 of the Bhandarwada Reservoir will be removed and replaced with a new 900 mm diameter valve.
The BMC has requested to residents in the affected areas to store adequate water in advance for their needs before the scheduled water cut. During the shutdown period, water should be used judiciously.
Following the pipeline work, there is a possibility of low-pressure and murky water supply for the next two days in the affected areas. As a precaution, citizens are advised to filter and boil water before use and to cooperate with the BMC during this period, the administration has appealed.
