Ajit Pawar Urges Nitin Gadkari To Order Urgent Repairs On Pune–Nashik And Nashik–Mumbai Highways

Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar has written to Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways, Nitin Gadkari, urging immediate repairs to the Pune–Nashik and Nashik–Mumbai national highways. Pawar said both highways have developed large potholes and are in extremely poor condition. “The deteriorating state of these roads has led to a surge in accidents, posing serious threats to commuters,” he said.

In his letter, Pawar highlighted that the Pune–Nashik highway holds significant importance for industrial, commercial, and passenger traffic. “However, the road is currently dotted with deep potholes at several locations, causing substantial damage to vehicles and leading to an increase in accidents. Citizens are bearing the brunt in terms of time loss, fuel wastage, and mental distress.” He also noted that despite regular toll collection on the route, there has been no visible improvement in the quality or safety of the road.

Furthermore, Pawar pointed out the hazardous conditions on the Nashik–Mumbai highway, particularly in the Kasara Ghat and Igatpuri areas, where poor road quality, substandard diversions, and incomplete bridgework are endangering commuters. Serious accidents have also been reported on this route.

The Deputy CM has requested that a thorough inspection of both highways be conducted and that immediate repair orders be issued.

Expressing confidence in Union Minister Gadkari’s efficiency and contributions to infrastructure development, Pawar stated in his letter that he believes the necessary repair work on both highways will be swiftly carried out under the Minister’s leadership.
