Airline Employee Accused Of Sexually Assaulting Air Hostess In Mira Road, Arrested At Mumbai Airport
A London airline employee was arrested at Mumbai airport while trying to flee to Hong Kong after allegedly raping a 23-year-old air hostess. The assault occurred at his residence following a party where he forced her to drink excessively.

Mumbai: A 23-year-old air hostess working for a UK-based airline was allegedly raped by her 25-year-old colleague, a crew member, at his home in Mira Road East. The incident occurred on June 30, shortly after the two had travelled together on a flight from London to Mumbai. The Navghar police registered an FIR against Devashish Sharma for allegedly rape on July 18, and he was arrested the next day. The court has remanded him in police custody until July 22. The police arrested him at Mumbai International Airport when he was about to flee the country.

According to the police, the victim and the accused were friends and both work with UK-based airlines as crew members. Both reside in Mira Road East in separate places. The accused is originally from Jaipur, Rajasthan, and lives in Mira Road in a rented flat located Jainacharya Ajramar Road, Ramdev Park Road, Sagar Phase 1, Panchan Park, Mira Road East.
On June 29, both travelled together from London to Mumbai on the same flight. After returning to Mumbai, they attended a party where they both consumed alcohol. After the party, they went to the accused’s residence in an app-based taxi. The victim claimed that she went to his house because she trusted him. At around 3 am, the accused allegedly raped her.
She stated in her complaint that she was intoxicated when the incident occurred and was therefore unable to resist. She was abroad for work, and after returning to Mumbai, she filed a complaint against him at the Navghar police station on July 18. Subsequently, the police registered a case under Sections 64 (punishment for rape), 351(2) (criminal intimidation), and 35 (right of private defence of body and property) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.
Upon registering the case, the police immediately arrested him when he was about to leave the country. He had recently secured a job with a Hong Kong-based airline and had obtained a visa.
However, he was apprehended at Mumbai International Airport while attempting to fly abroad. Investigation Officer Sanjay Lokhande Mali is investigating the matter under the guidance of Dheeraj Koli, Senior Police Inspector of Navghar police station.
