Mumbai: An air-condition technician died after falling from the 11th floor of a 29-storeyed building at the Ten BKC complex in Bandra Kalanagar on Saturday, police said.

Supervisor, contractor detained over negligence

The incident occurred at 12.30pm when Ziyadul Shamshujuha Huda, 27, was fitting an outdoor AC unit outside a window. Kherwadi police detained supervisor Indrajit Chauhan, 30, and AC contractor Tashvar Ali Ibbarat Ali Mansuri, 28, for alleged negligence.

Police said the duo claimed Huda had been provided a safety harness. However, it remained unclear whether he had fastened it properly or whether Chauhan and Mansuri checked it before assigning the work. Huda wore a safety belt but no helmet.

Co-worker recounts fatal fall

Atikur Rehman Mohammad Sagir Mansuri, 21, who was assisting Huda, told police that Huda lost his balance and fell. A pedestrian later alerted a patrolling police vehicle.

Huda, a resident of Uttar Pradesh, suffered multiple injuries and died before admission to Sion Hospital, police said.
