With the special NIA court acquitting all the seven accused in the 2008 Malegaon bomb blast case, a controversial statement reiterated by former ATS officer Mehboob Murtuza has raised a fresh controversy.
Murtuza, who was associated with the bomb blast case, repeated his allegation that senior IPS officer Parambir Singh had ordered him to arrest RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat in connection with the investigation.
Murtuza said the order was part of the effort to create a false narrative of Hindu terror. He said he refused to arrest Bhagwat since it was beyond his capacity to arrest a person of the stature of Bhagwat.
