Pune To Host India's Largest Senior Marathon Movement For Age 60+ Runners

Pune is all set to host one of India’s largest senior marathon movements, the Simple Steps Ageless Wonder Walk n Jog. Organised by Simple Steps Fitness in collaboration with GenS Life, this premier event exclusively for runners aged 60 and above will take place on February 23, 2025, at the Pune University Sports Complex.

The event is expected to witness powerful participation, growing from 200 runners in 2022 to an anticipated 800 participants this year.

Race categories

The event features three race categories catering to different fitness levels:

3 km Fun Run (non-competitive)

5 km and 10 km Competitive Races

Athlete on Wheels category for physically challenged participants

With this broad range of options, the event aims to foster a sense of inclusivity and community spirit among seniors, encouraging them to stay active and engaged.

A celebration of fitness and culture

Beyond the race, the event promises a vibrant cultural experience. Senior dancers from Mumbai and Pune will showcase performances, celebrating the undying spirit of vitality. Attendees can also enjoy vintage car displays, live performances of old classic songs, laughter yoga sessions, and informative health workshops at a pre-event expo scheduled for February 22.

Talking about the marathon movement, Meenakshi Menon, Founder, GenS Life, said, "Each of us wants to be healthy and fit. We want to avoid the aches and pains of age. That’s why we want to encourage seniors to start moving. The pride I see in our 60+ participants is incredible. They're not just running a race; they're showing the world that vitality knows no age limits nor bounds."

Rewards and prices

Participants will receive finisher medals, e-certificates, and goodie bags, with special prizes for different age categories, including 60-64 years to 85+ years. Runners will also benefit from time chip tracking and dedicated refreshment stations throughout the course.
