Lower Back Pain: Causes, Symptoms, Home Remedies And Relief Tips
From muscle strain and poor posture to simple home remedies, here’s what to know about a sudden catch in the lower back

A sudden ‘catch’ or sharp pain in the lower back is common and often occurs after bending, lifting, twisting, prolonged sitting, or an awkward movement. It may be due to muscle strain or stiffness, but persistent or severe pain should be evaluated.
Symptoms
Sudden sharp or pulling pain in the lower back
Difficulty bending, standing or turning
Stiffness, especially after sitting or waking up
Pain that may increase with movement
Causes
Muscle or ligament strain
Poor posture or prolonged sitting
Sudden bending, twisting or lifting
Weak core and back muscles
Lack of regular physical activity
Sometimes, a slipped/herniated disc or other spinal problem
Home remedies
Take short periods of rest, but avoid prolonged bed rest.
Apply a warm compress for 15–20 minutes if it provides relief.
Avoid heavy lifting and sudden twisting until the pain settles.
Gentle stretching and yoga under proper guidance may help improve flexibility and strength.
Maintain good sitting posture and take regular movement breaks.
Sujok Therapy
Message for five to 10 minutes daily twice a day on highlighted area (see figure) and apply date seeds on that after that. Keep them for three-four hours. Remove if any discomfort. Repeat this till pain lessens. If pain aggravates, consult a doctor.
