Builder Avinash Bhosale remanded in judicial custody in Yes Bank - DHFL case

A special court designated under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA) has remanded builder Avinash Bhosale in judicial custody after he spent around 14 days in the Enforcement Directorate (ED) custodial interrogation since June 28 in connection with the Yes Bank - DHFL case. His advocates Vijay Aggarwal and Rahul Agarwal on behalf of Wadia Ghandi and Co. had made a plea for home-cooked food, orthopaedic mattress and pillow to be permitted in prison.

Special Judge MG Deshpande has directed the Arthur Road jail authorities to respond to the plea and in the meanwhile it has permitted the facilities. The ED had opposed the provision of these facilities and had asked that the jail's response be called first. The court observed that there is specific medical advice for these according to medical papers produced and the jail may respond in due time, till then the facilities can be provided or it may adversely affect his health. The builder was earlier arrested by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) in the case and was in the custody of another court when he was taken into custody by the ED that is probing the money laundering aspect of the fraud.
