Among the cabinet ministers, former MP and leaders of both parties have been reaching door-to-door to seek support of residents to vote for respective party candidates.
Sardarpur (Madhya Pradesh): With just a few days left for the third phase of panchayat polls, political leaders are busy with election campaigns while leaving no stone unturned in wooing voters in their party’s favour.
Among the cabinet ministers, former MP and leaders of both parties have been reaching door-to-door to seek support of residents to vote for respective party candidates. All eyes remain on migrant workers. Since migration is a perennial feature in the region, it remains to be seen whether around 7k to 10k migrant workers who are firmly ensconced outside the region undertake a homeward journey to participate in the upcoming panchayat polls.
However, ahead of the polls, the parties and candidates contesting it are understood to have activated to bring them back home before the polls. After all, votes of the migrant workforce and registered voters of their families count a lot. Minister of industrial policy and investment promotion of Madhya Pradesh, Rajwardhan Singh Dattigaon was occupied in last-minute efforts to appeal to voters and promised to lead the village to development and prosperity. On the other hand, Congress MLA Pratap Grewal and former MP Gajendra Singh Rajukhedia appealed to voters to vote for their respective parties in large numbers.
Former MP Rajukhedi alleged that high inflation and financial mismanagement were synonymous with the 8 year stint of the BJP government simultaneously wrecking the economy.
