Sanatanis Should Keep Stick, Two Swords & Gun in Homes, Says BJP MLA Usha Thakur
Thakur appealed while reacting sharply to a recent remark by Iltija Mufti, daughter of former Jammu and Kashmir chief minister Mehbooba Mufti, regarding Hindutva.

Senior BJP leader and former minister Usha Thakur |
Indore (Madhya Pradesh): Mhow MLA Usha Thakur has called on followers of Sanatan Dharma to keep ‘a big stick, two swords and a gun’ in their homes to safeguard their families and communities. “If our gods and goddesses are armed, the Sanatani society should be too,” she argued justifying her call.
The BJP MLA warned of the dangers of complacency stating that ignoring current events would be a ‘grave mistake’ for the Hindu community. Thakur appealed while reacting sharply to a recent remark by Iltija Mufti, daughter of former Jammu and Kashmir chief minister Mehbooba Mufti, regarding Hindutva. Iltija described Hindutva as a ‘disease’ that distorts Hinduism and promotes violence against minorities, particularly Muslims.

Sharing her views on social media platform X, she accused the BJP of leveraging Hindutva to consolidate its vote bank and alleged that the slogan Jai Shri Ram has shifted from symbolizing Ram Rajya to being chanted during mob lynching. The post, however, was deleted from the social media.
Thakur condemned Iltija's remarks as ‘treason’. Thakur said that Iltija’s words insult Hinduism and the cultural ethos of the nation. ‘Her heart and mind are sick,’ said Thakur, adding that the remarks dishonour the soul of India. Congress state spokesperson Milap Shukla lashed out at Thakur saying that the MLA, who has powers to make law, is talking about breaking law by provoking people to keep non-licenced swords and a gun at their homes.
