Indore (Madhya Pradesh): The road in front of one of the city’s busiest medical facilities, the Choithram Hospital, has become extremely rough and full of potholes, causing accidents for commuters.
The shopkeepers there recently shared a video capturing three individuals falling simultaneously while navigating the damaged stretch of road in front of the hospital.
Local shopkeepers and residents say that the road has become so dilapidated that people are slipping and falling almost every day. Daily around 50,000 commuters travel through the road.

“The road has become rough and uneven and it’s dangerous, especially for patients and elderly people coming to the hospital,” a local vendor said.
The vendor Shabnoor Khan said, “Several commuters fall on this part of the road almost every day and many get serious injuries. Recently an elderly man fell on the road and he received a bleeding injury on his head. He was rushed to a city hospital”.
Zonal officer Tanmay Singh Chauhan confirmed that the issue came to his notice on Saturday. “The only permanent solution is to resurface the road with asphalt. However, due to the ongoing monsoon season, proper repair work cannot be carried out”, he said.
Chauhan added that gravel had been laid earlier as a temporary measure, but it too had eroded. “This road is probably 15-20 years old and serves as a feeder road. We have now installed barricades to alert pedestrians, but it is only a temporary measure. As soon as there is a window of dry weather during the monsoon, the resurfacing work will be completed. Asphalt doesn’t hold during continuous rain,” he explained.
