Indore (Madhya Pradesh): On Dr Baba Saheb Bhimrao Ambedkar Jayanti and completion of 75 years of the Indian Constituent Assembly, chief minister Mohan Yadav administered a common citizen oath to students and professors at a ceremony organised at Ravindra Natyagruh on Monday.
State urban development and housing minister Kailash Vijayvargiya presided over the function.
Addressing the gathering, Yadav said, “Today is a very important day, because it is the birth anniversary of Dr Bhimrao Ambedkar, the father of the Indian Constituent Assembly, who played an important role in the creation of the Indian Constitution”.
Yadav further said that India did not get independence in a day. “We had to struggle for years for this. From Prithviraj Chauhan, Maharana Pratap and Chhatrapati Shivaji to revolutionaries, many sacrificed their all and freed the country from the shackles of slavery for years.”
The CM administered the oath of the democratic traditions of the Indian Constitution, unity and integrity of the nation to the students present in the programme. The students raised slogans like ‘My Constitution, My India’.
Yadav also met students and professors and talked about the Constitution.
On this occasion, water resources minister Tulsiram Silawat, Mayor Pushyamitra Bhargava, Mahendra Singh, MLAs Madhu Verma and Ramesh Mendola and a large number of other dignitaries were present.
