Kasrawad (Madhya Pradesh): An abandoned State Bank building on Khargone-Indore Road near Kasrawad has transformed into an unofficial garbage dump, creating health concerns for nearby businesses.
Despite municipal garbage collection vehicles passing by, the growing pile remains untouched. Shopkeepers report trash blowing into their establishments with each gust of wind.
"People have started throwing garbage here. It's coming directly into our shops," complained several business owners including kiosk operator Saavan Patel, Dr Rajesh Tare and dairy operator Anil Patidar.
The location is particularly problematic given its proximity to five schools within 100 metres, a government hospital just 110 meters away, an eye testing centre directly opposite and a dental clinic nearby.
Clogged drains along this main thoroughfare further compound the problem. Former councillor Bharat Patel said that when people were stopped from dumping garbage near the school, they moved to the bank premises. Locals claimed that the abandoned bank building belongs to the family of former agriculture minister and current MLA Sachin Yadav.
