Sailana (Madhya Pradesh): The residents of Daulatpura village in Madhya Pradesh's Sailana district are facing immense difficulties while performing the last rites during monsoons due to absence of a proper tin shed for cremation.
The problem came to light when tribal resident Jalu Charpota passed away two days ago. As everything was soaked, including the wood, his family had to burn the body using old tyres, plastic waste and petrol, as the cremation had to be performed in the open, amid rainfall.
This incident has exposed loopholes in government schemes meant for rural infrastructure. When approached, local officials expressed surprise, admitting they were unaware of the situation.

Villagers submitted a memorandum to SDO Manish Jain, janpad panchayat CEO Govardhan Malviya and collector Rajesh Batham demanding immediate construction of a cremation shed.
Authorities have now promised action. SDO Jain called this a "priority work", while CEO Malviya said a team would visit the site immediately.
Sarpanch representative Rajesh Meida said that while four hamlets in the panchayat have proper sheds, Daulatpura was left out despite repeated requests.
This isn't the first such case - last year, Pagadiya Mahundi village faced similar issues during monsoon, which were resolved only after media highlighted the problems.
