Indore (Madhya Pradesh): State Congress president Jitu Patwari has questioned citizens for choosing the BJP with a huge margin and said that they are facing the misuse of power due to the same. He also urged the people to “balance the scales” while voting to ensure a strong opposition, warning that unchecked political dominance leads to misuse of power.
Speaking about the ongoing dispute between corporator JituYadav and Kamlesh Kalra, he accused BJP supporters of harming the city’s culture. Patwari highlighted recent incidents of violence, including attacks on the families of former Lok Sabha Speaker Sumitra Mahajan and a BJP corporator, allegedly by BJP members.
He criticised the BJP for failing to deliver despite winning nine seats, urging voters to rethink their choices to maintain democratic balance. He also announced a major Congress event in Mhow, BR Ambedkar’s birthplace, on January 27 in which Congress chief Mallikarjun Kharge, and Congress leaders Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi are set to take part.
Patwari expressed concern over threats to the Constitution, alleging that over 600 MLAs were traded in a decade, government agencies are being misused, and Opposition leaders are targeted before elections. Former minister Sajjan Singh Verma supported Patwari’s claims and criticised BJP leaders for questioning the Congress.
