Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): A significant change in the weather pattern is underway across Madhya Pradesh, especially in its western regions including Bhopal, Indore, Gwalior, Chambal, and Narmadapuram divisions. A western disturbance—active near Pakistan and accompanied by a passing trough—is triggering a noticeable drop in daytime temperatures, with some areas experiencing a decline of up to 4.2°C. Winds have been clocked at 10–12 km/h, contributing to the cooling trend.

The coming months are forecast to be the hottest of the year. In April and May, several divisions—especially Gwalior, Chambal, Jabalpur, Rewa, Shahdol, and Sagar—could see temperatures soar past 45°C. Even the regions around Bhopal, Indore, Ujjain, and Narmadapuram are expected to experience significant heat.

• Temperature Drop: Many cities are witnessing a marked decrease. For instance, in Shivpuri, temperatures fell by 4.2°C to register around 28°C. Other local readings include Khargone at 35.6°C and Pachamadi at 27.5°C.

• Major Cities: Bhopal is currently at 31°C, Indore at 30.5°C, Gwalior at 30.9°C, Ujjain at 31.2°C, and Jabalpur at 32.1°C.

• Wind Influence: The active western disturbance is enhancing wind activity, which in turn is responsible for the cooling effect observed across the region.

• March 5: Expect clear skies in Bhopal with slightly cooler conditions as winds keep the temperatures around 28°C. Similar weather conditions are anticipated for Indore, Ujjain, Gwalior, and Jabalpur.

• Third Week:

  • Cooling Nights: With the strengthening of northwestern winds, minimum temperatures in the Indore division may drop to between 20–23°C, while other areas may see lows between 19–21°C.

  • Warming Days: Conversely, daytime temperatures are predicted to gradually increase by 2–4°C above normal, reaching around 34–38°C. Eastern and southern parts might also experience intermittent cloud cover and scattered showers with occasional thunder.

  • Rising Lows & Highs: In Rewa and Shahdol divisions, nighttime temperatures could reach 22–24°C, while other regions might see lows around 23–26°C. Maximum temperatures are set to climb significantly—with Jabalpur possibly reaching 37–40°C and other areas like Bhopal approaching 38–42°C.

  • Scattered Showers: South-eastern winds may trigger brief spells of rain in regions such as Jabalpur, Shahdol, and Narmadapuram. Additionally, late March could bring a few days of gusty conditions across several districts.
