Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): Madhya Pradesh is expected to witness light rainfall on Monday in 11 districts including Rewa, Satna, Mauganj, Sidhi, Singrauli, Panna, Maihar, Katni, Umaria, Shahdol, and Anuppur.
According to the Meteorological Department, the rainfall, which is being induced by a cyclonic circulation, will persist for a few days and after this, the temperatures will begin to rise.
Weather experts said while temperatures may remain stable for the next 24 hours, a sharp rise is expected afterwards.
Heatwave Alert for April 16 - 17
From April 16, a heatwave is likely to affect many districts, especially in the Gwalior, Chambal, and Indore divisions. On April 17, the heatwave conditions may persist across regions such as Dhar, Badwani, Khargone, Khandwa, Burhanpur, Shivpuri, Morena, and Bhind.
On Sunday, many parts of the state witnessed strong winds, lightning, rain, and hailstorms. In Shivpuri, a woman lost her life due to lightning while sleeping in a field. Eleven buffaloes were also killed in the same incident. In Khargone’s Maheshwar, heavy rain and hail were reported. Satna experienced two hours of intense rain and wind.
Weather expected in next 2 days
14 April: Light rain may occur in Satna, Rewa, Mauganj, Sidhi, Singrauli, Panna, Maihar, Katni, Umaria, Shahdol, and Anuppur. The rest of the districts will experience heat.
15 April: The weather will be clear throughout the state. No rain is expected anywhere. The heat will increase on this day.
Temperature records
The maximum temperatures hovered around 40°C in many areas.
Narmadapuram experienced scorching heat of 40.2°C; Khandwa & Dhar: 40.1°C; Khargone & Narsinghpur: 40.0°C; Bhopal: 38.8°C; Indore: 38.6°C; Gwalior: 36°C; Ujjain: 38.5°C and Jabalpur remained at 37.4°C.
The coolest location was Pachmarhi, at 32.8°C.
