Dhar (Madhya Pradesh): Dhar city is facing severe encroachment problems across multiple areas, claimed residents. Traders in Bohra Bakhal area, Mandi Road and Gandhi Colony have occupied roads up to three feet, creating frequent traffic jams and disputes.
The encroachment issue becomes critical during school hours when 32-seater buses cause 10 to 15-minute traffic jam in the narrow city roads. The situation worsens due to large vehicles navigating through restricted spaces.
On Gandhi Colony to Padlya Road stretch, shopkeepers have established their businesses on 2 to 3 feet of road space, leading to regular traffic congestion and occasional disputes between commuters and vendors. Mandi Road and Bohra Bakhal Road face similar challenges due to their narrow width, causing persistent traffic problems.
Despite multiple Municipal Corporation meetings regarding Adarsh Road, vegetable vendors refuse to relocate their stalls. The situation in Bohra Bakhal area has worsened as shopkeepers have installed iron angles outside their establishments to prevent vehicle parking, further reducing available road space.
The presence of a bank in Bohra Bakhal area compounds traffic problems, as increased footfall creates additional congestion in the already encroached streets. Chief Municipal Officer (CMO) VN Singh acknowledged the issue and assured that appropriate action will be taken against encroachers.
