Long queues seen outside polling booths in Mandsaur

Mandsaur (Madhya Pradesh): As the days came to an end, a large number of voters reached the polling stations with much enthusiasm, to exercise their franchise in the third phase of panchayat elections, raising the hope of a steep rise in the polling percentage. By and large peaceful voting took place in the area with no major untoward incident reported from anywhere till this report was written.

Mandsaur collector and the district election officer Gautam Singh accompanied by other officials undertook inspections of the most sensitive polling booths during the third and final phase of panchayat elections in Mandsaur district.

Also, necessary arrangements at polling booths of Mundi, Pehda Magra, Pehda located at Malhargarh and Bani and Bardia polling booths under Garoth were inspected to ensure that the voters are not inconvenienced. CEO (district panchayat) Kumar Satyam was also present. During this, Singh gave necessary instructions to election officers to give priority to the elderly and handicapped in the voting process.

Collector Singh also interacted with villagers and asked them to cast their votes only after applying their minds. He emphasized on the importance of votes and said that the selection of the leader was dependent on the honest conduct of elections. This right to vote empowers the citizens to exercise their choice and decide who will be leading and carrying the burden of responsibilities that comes with power.

Tight security systems were in place at the polling stations and each station is being closely inspected to ensure incident-free polling across the district.
