Indore Water Cut Alert: 20 Areas To Face Supply Disruption On Aug 25-26

Indore (Madhya Pradesh): Many areas in the city will go without tap water supply for the next two days as the Indore Municipal Corporation’s water supply department will undertake a 24-hour shutdown of a 1,200 mm-diameter water pipeline to carry out essential repair and interconnection works at multiple locations on Tuesday.

While direct water supply through the 1,200 mm pipeline will be hit on Tuesday, regular water supply to areas connected to as many as 20 overhead tanks will remain affected on Wednesday.

According to the water supply department, the shutdown has been planned to complete several necessary works simultaneously and minimise inconvenience to residents.

One of the key works will be the replacement of a faulty 250 mm valve in the Mhow Naka area. The damaged valve has affected the direct water supply system in Zone No 12, making its replacement necessary.

At the same time, repair work will be carried out on a leak in the 1,200 mm pipeline at Bilawali gorge.

In addition, the civic body will repair a leak in an old pipeline beneath the Rajendra Nagar Bridge, along with carrying out interconnection work and installing the required valves.

The shutdown will affect the filling of 20 overhead water tanks, resulting in disruption to direct water supply through the 1,200 mm pipeline on Aug 25 and regular water supply to areas served by these overhead tanks on Aug 26.

The localities connected to overhead water tanks located at Annapurna, Scheme No 103, Chhatribagh, Raj Mohalla, Dravid Nagar, Lokmanya Nagar, Maharanaprata Nagar, Narwal, Agarbatti Complex, Kushwaha Mohalla, Tigariya Badshah, Banganga, Subhash Chowk, Sadar Bazaar, Jinsi Haat, Malhar Ashram, Gandhi Hall, Bhakt Prahlad Nagar, MOG Lines and Jai Hind Nagar will be affected.

The water supply department said alternative water supply arrangements through tankers will be made in the affected areas to reduce inconvenience to residents.

The civic body has urged residents in the affected areas to make necessary arrangements in advance and cooperate during the shutdown period.
