Indore (Madhya Pradesh): Electricity worth about Rs 20 crore was generated by rooftop solar panels in the Malwa-Nimar region in the last four months of summer, claimed Madhya Pradesh West Zone Electricity Distribution Company.

In Malwa-Nimar, the number of people who generate electricity from solar energy on their premises by installing net meters has also increased by around 1000 this summer. That means around 1000 more electricity consumers opted for green energy this summer.

At the end of June, their number reached 5,260. This year, from March to June, about 30 per cent more electricity has been generated than in the previous four months as the sun shone between 11 and 13 hours every day. In the summer of 2022, a total of 3,200 places in Indore city have generated electricity in the areas bordering the municipal corporation.

The net meter solar power generation in the entire region has been the highest in the city as electricity worth about two crore rupees per month was being generated here.

Indore is followed by Ujjain and Ratlam city. Talking about the districts, the maximum electricity is being generated through the net meter from Indore district, while the least from Agar district.

West Discom managing director Amit Tomar said that the company's executives help consumers promptly in net metering so that green energy is promoted. “Green energy is the future,” he added.
