Indore (Madhya Pradesh): The Hindi adaptation of Neil Simon’s famous play 'The Sunshine Boys', titled 'Purane Chawal', was staged on Sunday evening at Labh Mandapam. Presented by Unmask Studio and Melody Fusion Entertainment Group, the play entertained the audience with humour and deep emotions.

Actors Kumud Mishra and Shubrajyoti Barat impressed viewers with their comic timing and emotional depth. Director Sumeet Vyas skilfully brought the story to life, making every scene impactful. The story revolves around two retired comedians who reunite after 12 years to recreate their iconic act for a major comedy event.

The play beautifully reflects how people often get lost in past memories and forget to cherish the present. Humorous dialogues delighted the audience. The hall echoed with laughter and applause throughout the performance. Witty dialogues like, “If there’s no blood in your body, how do you remember old things?” and “Do you want to rehearse here or insult me?

Both!” kept the audience engaged. The actors perfectly portrayed the emotions of elderly individuals who, despite frequent arguments, deeply care for each other. Viewers appreciated the play for its mix of comedy and life lessons. Audience member Rajendra Mehta said, “It made us laugh, cry and think deeply about life.”
