Indore (Madhya Pradesh): Tension prevailed at Rau police station on Wednesday night after activists of a Hindu outfit protested, alleging misbehaviour by a head constable towards a woman.
Police had detained a man on suspicion of possessing narcotics, but no illegal substances were found on him. When his family arrived at the station, his mother alleged that Head Constable Pawan Tripathi misbehaved with her.
Following the complaint, DCP Zone-1 Krishna Lalchandani ordered an inquiry, to be conducted by ACP Nidhi Saxena.
The protesters raised slogans and demanded action against the officer. ACP Saxena reached the station and assured them that a fair probe would be conducted.
Lalchandani said action would be taken based on the inquiry findings.
Preliminary investigation, including CCTV footage, indicated that the constable did not misbehave. Police said preventive action was taken against the detained youth.
