Indore News: Illegal Liquor Worth ₹1.01 Lakh Seize | representative image

Indore (Madhya Pradesh): Illegal liquor worth a total of about ₹1.01 lakh was seized during a major action by the Excise Department in Indore on December 12, 2025. The action was taken on the orders of District Collector Shivam Verma and as per the directions of Assistant Excise Commissioner Abhishek Tiwari.

Separate operations were carried out in different parts of the city, during which liquor, vehicles, and two accused were caught.

In the first action, the excise team conducted checking in the Malwa Mill area. At Malwa Mill Square, a grey Activa scooter was stopped, and six bottles of whisky being transported illegally were recovered. The liquor and the two-wheeler were seized, and a case was registered against the accused, Hitesh, a resident of the city, under the Excise Act. The total value of the seized liquor and vehicle in this case was estimated at around ₹57,000.

In another action carried out the same day, the excise team stopped a two-wheeler near Abhilasha Nagar Square on Nemawar Road. During the search, one carton containing 50 quarters of country-made liquor was found in the bag of the rider. The accused, Vicky, was caught red-handed and taken into custody. A case was registered against him under the Excise Act, and the seized liquor and vehicle were valued at about ₹43,750.

The Excise Department said that such drives against illegal liquor transportation and sale will continue to ensure strict enforcement of the law in Indore.
