Indore (Madhya Pradesh): Under the Jal Ganga Samvardhan Abhiyan, a massive human chain was formed in the city to spread awareness about water conservation. The chain, led by Mayor Pushyamitra Bhargav, stretched from Ranjeet Hanuman Temple to the Maharana Pratap statue, where thousands of citizens joined hands to deliver a united message: “Save Water, Secure Future.”
On this occasion, the Jal Ganga Rath was also flagged off, which will travel door-to-door to educate citizens about sustainable water practices. Mayor Bhargav emphasised that after achieving the number one rank in cleanliness, Indore was now determined to lead in water conservation as well.
He appealed to residents to adopt rooftop rainwater harvesting, recharge groundwater and support the “Catch the Rain” initiative. “An inverted umbrella symbolises water conservation—gather it, don’t let it escape,” he remarked.
Key municipal members, including Abhishek Sharma, Kanchan Gidwani and Yogesh Gendar, along with a large number of citizens and officials, participated with great enthusiasm. Highlighting the ongoing efforts, Bhargav noted that over 1.25 lakh rainwater harvesters had been installed and several wells, stepwells and ponds deepened in the past three years.
He urged all citizens to unite for a water-secure tomorrow.
