Indore: Delhi woman held for duping cab driver, others
According to police, a cab driver lodged a complaint with Vijay Nagar police station staff that a woman had booked his cab for going to a shopping mall.
Indore (Madhya Pradesh): A woman from Delhi was arrested by the police for cheating a cab driver by taking his mobile phone and giving him a stolen mobile phone in exchange, and also for not paying his cab fare. Police said she was staying in a hotel and had not paid the room rent either.
According to police, a cab driver lodged a complaint with Vijay Nagar police station staff that a woman had booked his cab for going to a shopping mall. When he dropped her at the mall, she offered to exchange her expensive mobile phone with his mobile phone to which he agreed. She then took his e-wallet's pin number saying that he needed it for shopping. When she did not return for a long time, the driver went looking for her and when he could not trace her, he lodged complaint with the Vijay Nagar police.
With the help of CCTV footage, the police managed to trace and arrest her on Saturday.
According to the police, a preliminary investigation revealed that after taking the cab driver'smobile phone , the woman had called a person to send some money in the e-wallet of his mobile phone and she spent the money on shopping. The woman is an MBA graduate and she came to the city three days ago. She had taken her friend’s mobile phone which she had exchanged with the cab driver.
She had told the hotel management that she would pay the entire room rent at the time of check out, but she did not pay. She also had pending bill in a cafe. Police are questioning the woman and trying to find if she has a record in Delhi.
