Indore: DAVV now changes B.Com exam timetable mid-stream due to OMR sheet issue

Indore (Madhya Pradesh): Blame it on election duty of its employees that Devi Ahilya Vishwavidyalaya (DAVV) has to change the B.Com first-year exam timetable mid-stream as OMR sheets could not be printed in time. The papers which were schedule for July 11 and 12 will now be held on July 26 and 27.

According to the new scheme of exams prepared keeping in view the National Education Policy, 2020, the foundation papers are to be conducted on an Optical Mark Recognition (OMR) sheet. DAVV has not been able to print these sheets due to the duty of its employees in urban body and panchayat elections. As a result, two weeks after starting the UG first-year exams, the university has to extend the exams for the B.Com first-year foundation papers.

According to the new dates, the Hindi and English papers, which were scheduled for July 11, and Yoga and Environment papers, which were scheduled for July 12, will now be held on July 26 and July 27, respectively.

The need for foundation papers of B.A. and B.Sc has not arisen as they are scheduled in August. By then, the university printing press employees will return from poll duty and so, the papers will be printed.

Exam controller Dr Ashesh Tiwari said that the counting of votes for the urban body elections would be over in the third week of July. “After that, our employees will return from poll duty. That’s why, we’ve scheduled the B.Com foundation papers for July 26 and July 27 since, by that time, OMR sheets will be printed,” he added.
