Indore (Madhya Pradesh): The crime branch arrested another member of the gang involved in online betting through a website, an official said on Tuesday. So far, nine accused have been arrested in the case.
According to a crime branch officer, the team had received information that online betting was underway on the second floor of a flat in Ushaganj area. The crime branch raided the place and found that some people were involved in online betting through laptops and mobile phones.
Himanshu Khandelwal, Ravindra Gautam, Vivek Kumar, Amit Kumar Mandal, Krishna Kumar and Kanhaiya Pandey were arrested from the flat.
During interrogation, the accused allegedly informed the police that they used to make people bet on win or loss basis through a link on the ‘Varun Online Hub’ website and after receiving payment from the customers who wanted to bet, they used to send them the link and give them the website ID and password.
Twenty-nine mobiles, a computer, two laptops, seven cheque books, four passbooks, ATM cards and online betting accounts worth crores of rupees were seized from the accused. Later, accused Nikhil Khandelwal and Lucky Chauhan, who were on the run, were also arrested with Rs 6.50 lakh and a car.
On the basis of technical investigation in the case, ninth accused Rajesh Kumar Jain, a resident of Mangalia area, was arrested on Tuesday. In the mobile phone of the accused, accounts worth crores were found.
