Indore (Madhya Pradesh): To ease traffic congestion and ensure smoother vehicular movement, Indore Municipal Corporation (IMC), on Monday, carried out a large-scale anti-encroachment drive and removed around 200 illegal structures on 60 Feet Road in the city.
Zonal officer Deepak Gargate, who supervised the operation, stated that the campaign focused on eliminating unauthorised structures and obstructions that were hindering traffic flow and pedestrian movement. "The primary objective is to restore the footpaths and roadside areas to the public and improve traffic conditions," he said.
More than 200 encroachments were removed during the drive, including makeshift shops, roadside vendors, illegal tin sheds, walls and platform extensions. These structures had been occupying public space and contributing to regular traffic jams in the area.
The large-scale operation was supported by five dedicated removal teams and five JCB machines deployed by the IMC. The campaign also served as a strong warning to those illegally occupying public land.
The zonal officer added that the initiative is part of a continued effort and that similar actions will follow in other parts of the city. He appealed to the public to refrain from encroaching on roads, footpaths, or public places, warning that strict legal action would be taken against violators.
