Indore (Madhya Pradesh): A 13-year-old boy lost his life in a tragic accident on Sunday evening after coming in contact with a high-tension electricity line while flying a kite in Madina Nagar, under Azad Nagar police station limits.
The deceased was identified as Tohid, son of Raj Mian. He was a Class 5 student and the only child of his parents.
According to relatives, Tohid was flying a kite from the second floor of his house around 6 p.m. when the kite got entangled in the overhead electricity wires.
While trying to free it, he accidentally touched the high-tension line. Witnesses heard a loud explosion before Tohid collapsed on the roof being severely burnt.
Neighbours and family members lifted him from the spot and took him immediately to MY Hospital. However, doctors declared him dead on arrival due to the extent of his injuries.
Police have registered a case and initiated an investigation. The body has been sent for post-mortem.
Relatives shared that Tohid’s father works as a driver and the family was deeply attached to their only son. The accident has cast gloom over the entire neighbourhood. The residents have mourned the loss of the young boy.
Authorities have once again urged the public to maintain a safe distance from high-tension wires during kite flying to prevent such tragedies.
