Indore (Madhya Pradesh): The long-awaited construction of a new link road from the Bypass near Hotel Pride to the City Forest began on Wednesday with a traditional Bhoomi Pujan ceremony. The event was led by mayor Pushyamitra Bhargav, marking the formal commencement of a significant infrastructure initiative under the Indore Vikas Yojana 2021.
Estimated at a cost of Rs 29.52 crore, the project will be executed under the Special Central Assistance Scheme. It aims to enhance regional connectivity, particularly within the Rau Assembly constituency, where the road will serve as a vital transit link for thousands of daily commuters and residents.
The Bhoomi Pujan ceremony was attended by several dignitaries including Rau MLA Madhu Verma, mayor-in-council member Rajendra Rathore, local corporator Seema Solanki and BJP mandal president Purushottam Jaiswal, along with senior officials from the Indore Municipal Corporation.
Speaking at the ceremony, mayor Bhargav emphasised the road’s strategic importance, “The construction of this link road will greatly benefit residents of the surrounding areas, especially those residing in colonies developed under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana. It will ease traffic congestion, improve connectivity, and promote smoother transit across key zones in the city.”
Officials highlighted that the use of advanced construction technologies will ensure durability, efficiency, and minimal disruption during the execution phase.
The road is expected to serve as a major infrastructural artery, strengthening Indore’s urban mobility framework while supporting the city’s continued growth and development. Once completed, it will provide faster access between the Bypass and City Forest, encouraging both ecological tourism and residential accessibility.
The link road project is expected to be completed within a stipulated time frame, contributing to Indore’s vision of sustainable and smart urban development.
