Indore (Madhya Pradesh): A special team from Bhopal visited the city on Saturday to verify the proper implementation of the Ayushman Bharat scheme in both government and private hospitals.
The verification focused on several key aspects, including whether or not eligible patients were actually receiving the scheme’s benefits.
Teams of officials, comprising two members each, conducted surprise inspections across the city. In the first phase, the teams visited around 50 private hospitals, collecting online data, checking uploaded documents, reviewing claim approvals and verifying billing records.
The inspection was led by multiple teams under the State Health Agency (SHA), Bhopal, which operates under the Government of India’s Ayushman Bharat Mission.
Their primary role is to conduct regular checks at hospitals empaneled under the scheme to ensure transparency, assess claim processes and identify any irregularities or lapses in benefit distribution. The inspections were carried out at prominent hospitals.
Clarifications were sought from a few hospitals, especially regarding approved claim settlements.
The inspection teams included senior doctors, medical officers (team leaders), public health experts, health insurance specialists and IT professionals. Some local doctors from Indore were also involved in the process.
Confirming the inspection, chief medical and health officer (CMHO) Dr Madhav Hasani said, “The SHA team from Bhopal visited several hospitals in Indore for verification related to the Ayushman Bharat scheme. After completing the inspection, the team returned.”
The findings of the verification are expected to influence future implementation guidelines and may result in action against any hospital found to be misusing the scheme.
