Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): A 26-year-old woman, daughter of an assistant sub-inspector (ASI), has filed a dowry harassment case against her husband and in-laws after they allegedly threw her out of her marital home for not fulfilling their dowry demands
The woman’s in-laws had allegedly demanded Rs 5 lakh in cash and a car and when their demands were not met, the woman was ‘physically assaulted and thrown out of the house’, said Mahila Thana Police quoting the woman’s complaint here on Monday.

Soon after the marriage, her husband, mother-in-law Rekha and father-in-law Kailashchandra allegedly began pressuring her to bring dowry in the form of cash and a car. The woman was allegedly subjected to repeated physical and mental abuse for failing to fulfil their demands, said TI Dubey.
A few days ago, the woman’s in-laws reportedly ousted her from the house and since then she has been living with her parents. The TI further said that, frustrated and seeking justice, the woman lodged a complaint on Sunday at the Mahila Thana.
Police have registered a case under dowry harassment sections against the husband and both the in-laws. Notices are being prepared, and further action will follow as per legal procedure, the officer said.
