Safety measures along the under-construction road have also drawn concern. Chauhan said poles on and near the road lacked reflective markings, while warning signs had not been installed to alert motorists. The absence of such precautions could pose a risk to motorists, particularly at night.

Bhikangaon (Madhya Pradesh): Questions have been raised over the quality and safety measures during the construction of the approximately 37.50-km Bhikangaon-Jhirniya road. The project, stated to cost Rs 69 lakh, is being executed by Bidal Developers.

Even before completion, concerns have emerged over concrete quality and roadside safety. Gravel is reportedly visible through newly laid concrete at several locations, while an electricity pole remains in the middle of the road at one point. Several other poles are located close to the road shoulders.

Chiltiya village social worker Rajesh Chauhan alleged that construction quality was being compromised. He claimed cement was not being used according to prescribed standards, resulting in gravel becoming visible at several places. He also alleged that concrete work had not been carried out properly.

Safety measures along the under-construction road have also drawn concern. Chauhan said poles on and near the road lacked reflective markings, while warning signs had not been installed to alert motorists. The absence of such precautions could pose a risk to motorists, particularly at night.

Public Works Department sub-divisional officer Lokesh Chauhan said the contractor had been instructed to install reflective material on roadside poles and those located on the carriageway.

He said complaints regarding construction quality had also been received. Officials would inspect the work at the site, and action would be taken according to rules if any deficiencies in construction quality were found.
