Kolkata: BJP state president Sukanata Majumdar on Tuesday said that CAA will be implemented in the country much ahead of the 2024 Lok Sabha elections.

Addressing the media, Majumdar said that the two agendas BJP had will be implemented.

“BJP wanted Ram Mandir in Ayodhya which is now being built and BJP also wanted CAA and it has been made as a law and the decisions of modus operandi are yet to be determined. CAA will be implemented not just in Bengal but across the country much ahead of the 2024 Parliamentary election,” said Majumdar.

Taking potshots at the BJP, TMC state general secretary Kunal Ghosh said that people of Bengal have ‘rejected’ BJP during the Assembly election last year due to their agenda of CAA and NRC.

“Those who are voters of the country and have a voter ID card are already the citizens of the country. These voters have only elected the Prime Minister of the country and also the Chief Ministers of different states. These are nothing but communal politics of BJP,” said Ghosh.

Senior CPI (M) leader and politburo member Sujan Chakraborty said that the BJP has ‘dared’ to take ‘away’ citizenship from people as there is TMC government in Bengal.

It can be noted that several infighting was seen within the saffron camp after the central leadership has delayed implementing the CAA that according to BJP MP Shantanu Thakur would give citizenship to the Matuas. However, Union Home Minister Amit Shah had assured that CAA will be implemented in the country after the pandemic gets over.
