While West Bengal chief minister and TMC leader Mamata Banerjee is alleging that after Maharashtra, BJP is trying to break state governments of other states, ace actor and BJP leader Mithun Chakraborty has claimed that 38 TMC MLAs are on ‘good terms’ with BJP out of which 21 MLAs are in ‘direct’ terms with the actor himself.
Addressing a press conference in BJP’s Hastings office, Chakraborty said that BJP is in power in 18 states and also that the party will soon ‘fly high’ in a few other states.
“I was in Mumbai then one fine morning I saw BJP and Shiv Sena forming the new government. Maybe this can also happen in Bengal. At least 38 TMC MLAs are on good terms with BJP, out of which 21 are in personal touch with me,” said the Bollywood actor.
The actor-turned-politician also claimed that if the elections are conducted right away, BJP will win the polls if there is a ‘free’ and ‘fair’ election.
Asked about defection to TMC even after winning under the BJP ticket in the last 2021 Assembly elections, Chakraborty said that those who still want to defect to TMC can go and clean BJP.
Speaking about the corruption in Bengal, Chakraborty said that only God can save this state.
“The law will take its course and if someone is not guilty should not worry and if someone has done something wrong will be punished,” he further said, adding that he still thinks that CM Banerjee is his ‘didi’.
Slamming the actor-turned-politician, TMC Rajya Sabha MP Santanu Sen said that Mithun Chakraborty is trying to fool the people by making false claims.
“He was recently undergoing medical treatment for his physical ailments. I feel he is also struggling with some mental problems,” said Sen.
“Despite claiming to win over 200 seats during the 2021 Assembly election, BJP had managed to win only 77. Out of these, they have no idea how many are still with them. With each passing day, BJP is falling apart like 'a house of cards'. If Mamata Banerjee and Abhishek Banerjee open the doors, they will go into microscopic existence,” further added the TMC Rajya Sabha MP.
