In a shocking incident, an elderly man who ran a grocery shop was beaten to death by a group of youngsters, allegedly over an argument about a petty issue, at Baba Nagar in Kanchanbagh on Wednesday night.
The incident was captured on a CCTV camera, and the video of the assault has since gone viral.
According to reports, the victim, Zakir Khan (62), who ran a grocery store at ‘C Block’ in Baba Nagar, reportedly had an argument with a pan shop owner after some of the latter's customers placed chairs in front of Khan's grocery shop and sat on them.
When Zakir objected to this and asked them to remove the chairs, a group of youngsters thrashed him, punched him in the face and chest, and pushed him down. Zakir succumbed to his injuries.
After being informed, the police rushed to the spot and are currently searching for the accused.
According to reports, Zakir had undergone open-heart surgery in 2016.
His two sons were also attacked, according to reports.
