Gorakhpur: In a disturbing incident from Gorakhpur's Chiluatal area, a middle aged electrician, Virendra Prajapati, died by suicide by slitting his throat with a cutter machine late Wednesday night. The scene outside his home blood splattered across the floor left neighbours stunned.
Note Mentions Stress, Appeals for Wife’s Safety
A handwritten suicide note was found beside the body, reading: "I’m under stress. I’m ending my life of my own will. No one should trouble my wife.” But locals are casting doubt on the note’s authenticity, citing Virendra’s trembling hands and barely legible writing in recent years.
Virendra, a father of two, had been sleeping outside the house for months, allegedly due to friction with his wife, Lakshmi. On Wednesday night, he returned from work, had dinner, and went to rest under the tin shed outside where he was later found dead.
Neighbours claim no fight was heard that night. His cousin raised alarm after being phoned at 2:30 a.m. by a relative.
Police Register Suicide, Probe All Angles
Police have registered the case as suicide but say all angles are being probed. SP North Jitendra Kumar confirmed that a suicide note was recovered and the body sent for postmortem. The incident has triggered widespread unease in the neighbourhood.
