Uttar Pradesh News: Aniruddhacharya Sparks Outrage Over Remarks Targeting Women In Live-In Relationships

Mathura: A storm of criticism has erupted following remarks made by religious orator Aniruddhacharya during a sermon in Vrindavan, where he drew disparaging parallels between women in live-in relationships and their moral character. In a discourse widely circulated online, the orator claimed that in the current age, truth is unwelcome, and went on to state that "a 25 year old woman has already been with multiple men," questioning the integrity of women based on their lifestyle choices.

His statements, particularly targeting live-in relationships and implying that only "pure" women deserve respect, have provoked widespread backlash. Social media users and public figures have condemned the remarks as misogynistic and regressive.

Former Army officer Khushboo Patani, sister of actress Disha Patani, released a strongly worded video, labelling the comments as "anti-national" and calling for accountability. She challenged the gendered nature of the orator’s commentary, asking why only women were being targeted.

Uttar Pradesh Women’s Commission Chairperson Babita Chauhan also denounced the orator's language and intent, suggesting the individual either lacked judgment or failed to handle early fame responsibly. The Commission has taken cognizance of the issue and is expected to review the statements for potential action.

In response to the outrage, Aniruddhacharya released an apology video stating that his comments were misinterpreted and targeted only "certain women." However, the explanation has done little to ease the criticism, particularly given the platform and context in which the remarks were made. Critics argue such statements undermine efforts toward gender equality and respectful public discourse.
