Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath indirectly rebuked Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav during a public address on Monday, stating that "civilized society cannot tolerate indecent language" in political debates. The remarks follow days of acrimony between Deputy CM Brajesh Pathak and SP leaders over a controversial social media post questioning Pathak's lineage.
Pathak intensified his criticism, accusing SP of practicing "vote bank politics through Muslim appeasement" and referencing SP's 2012 decision to withdraw terror cases. The conflict originated from an SP media cell post on May 16 linking Pathak's DNA to red-light areas, prompting an FIR by BJP workers at Hazratganj police station.
While Akhilesh Yadav initially urged restraint from both sides, Pathak's subsequent posts challenged SP's socialist credentials, demanding they "study Lohia's ideology properly." The exchange highlights growing tensions ahead of the 2027 assembly elections, with BJP framing SP's rhetoric as evidence of degraded political culture.
