More trouble for Manish Sisodia; CBI files fresh case over irregularities in Delhi govt's 'Feedback Unit'

The Central Bureau of Investigation on Thursday booked AAP leader Manish Sisodia over alleged irregularities in the Delhi Feedback Unit Case. Sisodia is already lodged in jail after both CBI and ED arrested him in the Delhi excise policy scam case.

A CBI Preliminary enquiry found that the Delhi government's feedback unit was involved in political snooping. The FBU was set up after AAp government in 2015 lost a battle of control over the Anti-Corruption Branch of Delhi government to the Lieutenanr Governor.

According to a report in India Today, Sisodia and seven others have been booked in the case filed under the Prevention of Corruption Act. The report stated that the accused in the case have been booked on charges of dishonest misappropriation of property, criminal conspiracy, criminal breach of trust by a public servant, forgery, using forged document as genuine, falsification of accounts and criminal misconduct by a public servant.

What is the Delhi 'Feedback Unit' Case?

Arvind Kejriwal-led AAP government set up a 'Feedback unit' in 2015 which started operating from February 2016. The vigilance department was created after Delhi LG got ACB's control. The unit was then headed by Manish Sisodia.

Allegations surfaced that the unit which employed retired officials of Inteligency Bureau and ACB was used to spy on opposition parties and other individuals.

A probe in the case began after a complaint was received by an officer of Directorate of Vigilance in 2016 who was also reportedly part of the unit deputation.
