Tragic! 21-Yr-Old Man Dies By Suicide After In-Laws Demand Property In Wife’s Name For Her Return In UP's Basti; Records Final VIDEO

Basti (Uttar Pradesh), July 28: A tragic incident has come to light from the Basti district of Uttar Pradesh, where a 21-year-old man named Raj ended his life after facing continuous harassment from his in-laws. The man reportedly consumed poison after being emotionally shattered by a condition set by his wife’s family, that their daughter would only return to her husband’s home if land and property were transferred in her name. The youth recorded a video before taking the extreme step of ending his life. The video of the youth is going viral on social media.

Marriage Struggles and Separation

The incident Occurred in Bijra village which falls under the Harraiya Police Station area. As per reports, Raj had married Khushi who is a resident of Mahadevari on April 22 this year. However, things turned sour within days of marriage due to disputes between the couple. Khushi left for her maternal home and never returned.

Despite several attempts by Raj to bring his wife back, he was repeatedly turned away by her family.

'The Shocking Condition'

Feeling helpless, Raj filed a complaint at the Harraiya women’s police post. Before his death, he also submitted a written statement in which he made serious allegations against his in-laws.

In his note, Raj claimed that his in-laws were forcing him to transfer his land in his wife's name, failing which they threatened to get Khushi’s pregnancy terminated. His family believes this intense pressure and emotional trauma led him to take the extreme step.

Final Moments Caught on Video

On Sunday (July 27) evening, Raj consumed poison. Police Response Vehicle (PRV) and an ambulance rushed to the spot and took him to the Harraiya Community Health Centre, from where he was referred to a higher medical facility due to his critical condition. However, he passed away on the way. Before consuming poison, Raj recorded a video, explaining his reasons.

Police Investigation Underway

Raj’s last statement, made in front of PRV police officers, clearly pointed toward unbearable pressure from his in-laws. After confirming his death, police from Harraiya station reached the location, took the body into custody and sent it for postmortem.

The police have launched an investigation into the matter and legal action will be taken after the investigation is completed.
